Triple Time, Rod Goodman’s turbo F31 Trimaran successfully rounded off the ORCA multihull racing season by winning the ORCA perpetual trophy for the Long Beach Yacht Club Catalina Island Series. Rod Goodman, #1103, with crew Marlene Stewart, #508 and Lambert Van Hulst, cleaned up on trophies at the annual LBYC Island Series trophy dinner, winning 7 out of 10 1st places to take first overall in the ORCA class. Triple Time also won a First to Finish trophy for the Isthmus Cove to Long Beach race in which they beat all boats including the 61’ sled Medicine Man, boat for boat! Rod was similarly honored by the President (Mike Leneman) and Secretary (Vic Stern) of ORCA at the annual ORCA dinner where he was presented with the LBYC Island Series Perpetual Trophy, and the NOSA 14 Mile Bank 1st Corrected, and  Bob Hanel First to Finish Perpetual Trophies. Triple Time wins 2nd place Trophy in the 2007 Santa Barbara to King Harbor Race.

Triple Time was 4th boat over the line out of 89 finishers in the 2007 Santa Barbara to King Harbor race, beating all but 2 of the maxi monohulls, but could just not catch the 50’ maxi catamaran Afterburner when the wind started to die. Afterburner took first place corrected over Triple Time by 43 minutes in the 11 Hour race. As usual the Shrimp Boil Dinner on Saturday made it all worth while!

Triple Time wins 3rd place Trophy in the 2006 Santa Barbara to King Harbor Race!

In what is usually the windiest race of the year the Santa Barbara to King Harbor Race this year race turned into a real sleeper. Over 50% of the boats dropped out when the easterly wind at the start died and a very weak southwesterly tried to fill in. It was not unusual to see boats on opposite tacks going the same direction or boats that we close-hauled on port tack in the same area as boats on starboard with spinnakers fully drawing. Afterburner did well and avoided a lot of the shifting breezes by being out in front with the big monos. She corrected over the 2nd place boat (Delta Vee) by about 4 hours, which means she finished 6 hours ahead. Delta Vee ( Mike Leneman) and Triple Time (Rod Goodman) had a "nip and tuck" 2 hour battle at the finish in a dying offshore which filled in from the west at the finish, with Delta Vee nipping Triple Time right near the finish........the two boats have virtually the same rating. The trophy presentation was lightly attended as most crew were either sleeping or had quit and gone back to their home ports.......but the shrimp dinner was good as usual and the night time sailing with a bright moon was actually very nice.......a warm night, offshore breeze and no dew. (Report by Mike Leneman, Delta Vee)

In a generally light wind race, F31R’s took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place (Delta Vee, Moxie, and Triple Time) out of 28 multihulls in ORCA class, correcting out on CatAttack (last year’s winner), all the other Reynolds 33R’s, the maxi-cat Afterburner, and even the ex-waterworld Trimaran Loe Real.
